Dupa cum stiti, GIMP este un editor foarte puternic de imagini, comparabil cu Adobe Photoshop. Partea cea mai frumoasa a lucrurilor este ca-i gratuit, si mult mai rapid decat concurentul sau comercial.

Saptamana trecuta a aparut versiunea 2.6, stabila, care a adus cu sine inbunatatiri radicale. In primul rand, programul se deschide intr-o singura fereastra (la versiunile anterioare se deschideau ferestre aparte pentru fiecare dialog). A mai aparut si suport GEGL, iar in curand, vorbeste lumea ca vor include si CMYK, astfel incat GIMP va fi adoptat usor in locul Photoshop-ului de catre profesionistii in publicistica.

Voi explica in cativa pasi cum sa instalam GIMP in Ubuntu Hardy (este asa o distributie de GNU/Linux).

1. Adaugati repozitoriile neoficiale ale lui GetDeb.

Pentru asta trebuie sa deschideti fisierul cu lista de repozitorii. Tastati in terminal:

$sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list (in loc de editorul gedit puteti folosi ce preferati mai mult: kate, kwrite, vim, nano, emacs).

Adaugati la sfarsit urmatoarele doua randuri:

# Repozitoriu neoficial de la GetDeb
deb http://ubuntu.org.ua/ getdeb/

Salvati si inchideti documentul. Dupa care scrieti:

$sudo apt-get update

2. Acum, deinstalam versiunea curenta de GIMP:

$sudo apt-get purge gimp

3. Daca vreti sa va convingeti ce versiune de gimp se va instala, tastati:

$apt-cache policy gimp

4. Instalati Gimp-ul prin comanda:

$sudo apt-get install gimp

5. Eu recomand ca dupa ce se instaleaza GIMP-ul, sa deactivati repozitoriul adaugat in pasul 1. Executati:

$sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

si adaugati un “#” la inceputul randului “deb http://ubuntu.org.ua/ getdeb/”, dupa care salvati, inchideti, si scrieti comanda:

$sudo apt-get update

6. Bucurati-va de noul GIMP!

Noul GIMP 2.6, asa cum arata la mine.

As you know, GIMP (Gnu Image Manipulation Program) is a free and powerful raster image editor. Last week was the release of the stable 2.6 version. Among the improvements are windows centralisation (there’s only one window now, finally), and GEGL support.

I’ll explain the simplest way to install it on Ubuntu Hardy Heron. Follow these steps:

1. Add the unofficial getdeb repository into your /etc/apt/sources.list. Do:

$sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list (or instead of gedit you can use your favorite text editor, eg. nano, kwrite, kate, vim, emacs)

Now paste these two lines at the end of the opened file:

# Unofficial Getdeb repositories:

deb http://ubuntu.org.ua/ getdeb/

Save the document, and close it.

Now update with the command: $sudo apt-get update

2. Remove your current Gimp instalation, with the command:

$sudo apt-get purge gimp

3. (optional) Check which version of gimp is the first candidate for instalation:

$apt-cache policy gimp

4. If you see the version 2.6 of gimp present, install GIMP:

$sudo apt-get install gimp

Press “y”, and wait some time, for the instalation to finish.

5. Now, when you have GIMP installed, you should comment the getdeb repository in your /etc/apt/sources.list . Again do:

$sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

and put a “#” at the beginning of the line “deb http://ubuntu.org.ua/ getdeb/” (that you inserted in the first step).

6. Enjoy yourself.
